In future it will be necessary to hook up the human body directly with the net. the net will infiltrate the body via bio- and neuronal interfaces, since this is the only way we will be capable of keeping up with the speed and complexity of the information flow. the human body will be extended by means of technology to an extreme degree, for the biological body will no longer be able to deal with the demands of the telematic society. we will learn bit by bit to synchronize our bodies with the rhythm of the machine. A new hybrid species will result from this development: the cyborg. the faces from the nexus series, with their unusual physiognomy, in combination with their unreal, computer-generated eyes, create a tension in the observer somewhere between interest and a sense of threat. it is precisely this field of unresolved tension in which we find ourselves when we consider the technological extension of our body and our perceptions.
